Dear Parents and Guardians:
As you know, we were able to bring a driver’s education program back to Putnam Valley High School in 2014 under a contract with PAS Auto School. Unfortunately, we learned just yesterday that the New York State Education Department has temporarily suspended our ability to offer the program for this spring. We are working to have this rectified for the fall.
We know that holding the class here at our high school provided a convenience for many of our students and we are very disappointed with the state’s decision.
We wanted to make you aware of other local programs that are available as soon as possible. We have notified surrounding districts that our PVHS students may be looking to attend their programs.
Please note that the Lakeland program is holding an orientation tomorrow morning at 11:30 am in the Lakeland High School cafeteria. If you are interested, please complete the application and have your child attend the orientation at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow, January 14, at the Lakeland High School cafeteria. You can download and print an application here: http://www.lakelandschools.org/files/filesystem/LAKELAND3.pdf

We are sorry for the inconvenience this will cause and we are working with BOCES and others to modify the determination of the NYS Education Department.
