At Putnam Valley High School's recent winter band concert, the Putnam Valley High School Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Mr. Ryan Odell, played a version of Charles Mingus' "Haitian Fight Song" - After the performance, the school's Tri-M Music Honor Society, under the student leadership of Stephanie Stoisits, Sarah Liscia, and Mike Bryne, passed a few hats among the audience seeking donations to help the victims of the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti. Due to their efforts, $375.85 was raised through the generous donations of the audience. The student honor society will make a charitable contribution to The American Red Cross.
