The PVHS Make A Difference Club has raised thousands of dollars for children’s charities, local community projects, and humanitarian relief efforts in the US and abroad. In just eight years the club has grown from a one-day-a year activity to a year-round fundraising and volunteerism powerhouse, averaging more than fifty students at each meeting. Louisiana schools devastated by Hurricane Katrina, local children’s hospitals and community programs, American soldiers in Iraq, and AIDS babies in Africa are just a few of the groups that have benefited from the hard work of these dedicated student volunteers. This year’s program will raise money for Green Chimneys, the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, and other local charities yet to be determined. At the Town Park event, the Make A Difference Club will sell tickets for 50 cents each and food and most games and activities can be purchased with these tickets.
All members of the Putnam Valley community are invited to participate in this year's Town Park event by volunteering, donating a raffle prize, baking or buying refreshments; and/or donating food and other items. Please drop off items to the labeled boxes outside the High School Nurse’s Office (PVHS, 146 Peekskill Hollow Road, Putnam Valley, NY 10579) or see Make A Difference Club co-advisors Linda Cefaloni or Pam Adamovich. For more information, call (845) 526-7801 or email lcefaloni@pvcsd.org or padamovich@pvcsd.org. Donations/checks can be made payable to: Make A Difference Club.
