The athlete and coach relationship is most important. Sometimes an athlete discussing the problem with the team captain may help resolve the issue or clarify the problem. An athlete and a coach should try to resolve all differences. In rare cases where the conflict cannot be resolved, the athlete should make an appointment with the Athletic Director. If there is a conflict with the parent and coach, the parent should contact the coach. These are the steps to be followed to resolve a problem:
1st Athlete > Captain
2nd Athlete > Coach
3rd Athlete > Athletic Director
4th Parent > Coach
5th Parent > Athletic Director
6th Parent > Principal
If you have a concern to discuss with a coach, please follow this procedure;
- Call to set up an appointment with the coach by phone or e-mail .
- The coach will not meet before or after a contest or practice with a parent. These can be emotional times for both the parent and the coach. Meetings of this nature usually do not promote positive resolutions. Please use the 24-hour rule, which is wait 24 hours before contacting the coach.
Issues that will not be discussed by coaches with parents;
- Amount of playing time
- Team strategy
- Play calling
- Other student/athletes
If there are still concerns after the parent talks to the coach, call the Athletic Director.
