As you know, the Board of Education has been in the process of selecting the next Superintendent of our District. Choosing and appointing the educational leader of a district is the most important decision any board of education has to make. Please know that this has been an extremely thoughtful process, involving many discussions, community input, direct observation, and a formal evaluation tool. After much deliberation, the Putnam Valley Board of Education is pleased to announce that Dr. Barbara Fuchs will be our new Superintendent effective July 1, 2011.

Dr. Fuchs has demonstrated her dedication and commitment to this District during her 7 year tenure here, first as Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction and most recently as Interim Superintendent. We are very proud of the Putnam Valley School District, which we believe is defined by the professionalism, creativity and skills of our staff. We look forward to working with Dr. Fuchs as she provides the leadership necessary to ensure that the children of Putnam Valley continue to receive the quality education they so richly deserve even in these fiscally challenging times.
