We are pleased to announce that a Putnam Valley High School senior, Quinn Gilman-Forlini, has earned national recognition in The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards of 2011, presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. Quinn was recognized as being among the most talented young artists and writers in the nation. This year, 185,000 works were submitted for review by professionals in the visual and literary arts. Only the top 1,500 were recognized in the national competition; Quinn’s writing portfolio earned her one of these coveted spots. The Putnam Valley Central School District would also like to commend Quinn’s teachers for encouraging and supporting her creative learning. The District is proud to have Quinn represent Putnam Valley in this year’s National Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.
In addition to being a very active member of Putnam Valley High School’s literary magazine, Quinn, along with Mrs. Tracey Getman, an English teacher at the high school, started the Putnam Valley High School Writing Center. Quinn and other student volunteers meet twice a week in the high school’s library to work with PVHS freshmen on their writing skills in this student run program.
