The SADD Chapter at PVHS informs young people about the dangerous consequences of distracted driving - April 05, 2011
The Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) Chapter at Putnam Valley High School adopted a goal for the month of March to have an education campaign to inform young people about the dangerous consequences of distracted driving, specifically teens who text while driving. To heighten awareness on this critical issue, a variety of programs, speakers and statistics were presented to the student body.
On Tuesday, March 22, 2011 the members of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) invited Jacy Good to Putnam Valley High School to share her personal story about the dangers of distracted driving. Jacy Good is a nationwide advocate who is dedicated to stopping the global epidemic of distracted driving after she tragically lost her parents (and almost her own life) in a terrible car accident that was caused by a distracted teen driver. After Jacy’s moving presentation, SADD members encouraged students to sign a cell phone pledge in which they promised not to text while driving. The SADD members then proudly displayed the banner in the hallway across from the Performing Arts Center.
