In an effort to be pro-active as we finish the school year, the District has purchased hand sanitizer dispensers, which have been placed in every classroom and office in the District. This will provide opportunities for individuals to encourage personal hygiene when it is impractical or unnecessary for them to utilize the bathroom.
This purchase was something the District had considered after the MSRA scare of last year. We know that the practice of good personal hygiene helps prevent the spread of many diseases including the flu. Our concern is not only the end of this school year but the possible resurgence of the H1N1 flu this fall when our students come back.
We will continue to investigate appropriate practices in our efforts to minimize any health issues that might arise which would threaten the safety of our staff and students. I would also recommend checking out the CDC link we have; the CDC has modified their recommendations as of June 3 and I believe there will be additional, new information over the summer.
