Putnam County Legislature and County Executive Proclamation
Regarding our District and High School
Dear Putnam Valley Community,
On the evening of December 7th, all of our Board of Education members and I attended a ceremony conducted at the Putnam County Courthouse commemorating the 75th anniversary of the School District and the 10th anniversary of the High School!
Mr. Robert Bondi, County Executive, and Mr. Sam Oliverio, Putnam County Legislator, presented the proclamation to the Board of Education and myself.
Mr. Oliverio, who has been involved as a student, guidance counselor and administrator with the District for over 40 years acknowledged, “Putnam Valley is a gift” amongst many other accolades. Board of Education President Valerie Fitzgerald stated, “My family and I live in this District because of the fine schools”. I stated, “At Putnam Valley, we continue to have wonderful students, dedicated staff and committed parents and community members”. We have made great strides since the formation of the District 75 years ago when the five one-room schoolhouses were consolidated into a central school district.
We will be holding events during the school year to commemorate this momentous occasion. Please look for notices about these events once they are finalized.
It was an honor to represent our fine School District and accept this proclamation along with our entire Board of Education.
