Dr. Marc Space commenced his
tenure with the Putnam Valley Central School
District in July 2007. A native New Yorker,
Dr. Space was born and grew up in Binghamton,
New York with the exception of four years during
childhood when his family resided near Middletown,
New York.
After
receiving his Master of Arts in English and
his Master of Arts in Teaching from SUNY - Binghamton,
Dr. Space pursued a certificate of advanced
study in School Administration and Supervision
from SUNY- Cortland. In December 2000 he received
his Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership
from the University of New Mexico, Subsequently,
he presented his dissertation findings at the
National Conference on Education. Dr. Space
is a frequent book reviewer for the Journal The
School Administrator, providing scholarly
criticism of current research in education.
Now in his
thirtieth year of education, Dr. Space has served
as a teaching assistant, coach, teacher, principal,
director of special education and assistant
superintendent. Before coming to Putnam Valley
Dr. Space was the Superintendent of the Taos
Municipal Schools in Taos, New Mexico, a position
he held for five years. During his tenure there
he established a school foundation and created
the state's first cyber magnet school.
Since coming
to Putnam Valley, Dr. Space has been appointed
to two advisory groups: The Health Insurance
Advisory Committee through Putnam-Northern Westchester
BOCES and Putnam County's Committee on Fiscal
Integrity and Accountability. He is also a member
of the Putnam Valley Rotary Club.
Dr. Space has
been married to his wife Katrina for thirty-one
years and is father of two children, Jason and
Rachel.
